| Description of Anabaena: Filamentous, the filaments (trichomes) may be coiled or straight, with occasional heterocysts. Terminal cells of trichomes may or may not be narrowed. Ticker walled akinetes may also form. The trichomes may (rare) or may not be encaused in mucilage. |
