| Description of Stentor roeseli: Heterotrich ciliate, similar in form to S. mulleri, the body is narrow and the peristome may be widely expanded. Up to 500 microns - 1mm long. The peristome has no central raised dome. Somatic cilia are present and a gelatinous lorica usually forms. The macronucleus is in the form of a chain of beads or looks like a long rod. This species is not strongly coloured. |
