Description of Vorticella picta: Stalked peritrich ciliate, body length 40-63 micrometres. Body bell-shaped, transparent. Pellicle smooth, without transverse striations. Two contractile vacuoles near peristomial lip. Pedicle with greenish granules. Freshwater, gregarious.
