| Description of Epistylis plicatilis: Peritrich ciliates, cells 100 microns long. This peritrich has a trumpet-shaped body which is widest at the peristome. The peristomial disc is arched. The base of the body often appears to be annulated. The macronucleus is C-shaped and lies in an oblique position around the pharynx. The stalk is neither segmented nor striated. |
