| Description of Uroleptus piscis: Urostylid ciliate, up to 400 micrometres long. Body fusiform; wider in the middle, tapering in the posterior to a short, bluntly pointed tail, curved to the right. Peristome about 1/4 as long as the body. Midventral cirri in typical zig-zag pattern. Marginal cirri at left and right. Frontal cirri well-developed. Transverse cirri usually described as present, but may be difficult to detect. Macronucleus in 2 ovoid parts. Contractile vacuole slightly behind the peristome, on the left side.
