| Description of Aspidisca cicada: Ovoid hypotrich ciliate, small- up to 45 microns long. The body outline is smooth, convex right hand margin, the peristome at the posterior may form an edxpansion. Dorsal ridges run longitudinally and vary in shape and number. There are seven frontoventral cirri and five transverse cirri. There are eight membranelles in the adoral zone of membranelles and three anterior cilia. The macronucleus is C-shaped. |
