Description of Paramecium putrinum: Short body rounded posteriorly slightly tapered anteriorly, 80-140 microns long with an almost transverse oral groove. A single macronucleus and single micronucleus are present, together with two contractile vacuoles but lacking radiating collecting canals but having a long twisted contractile vacuole pore.
