Protsville drawings of freshwater protists
| Description of Chaos: Locomotive amoebae polypodial or monopodial commonly between 1000 and 2000 µm in length, but up to 5000 µm. Pseudopodia cylindrical, frequently with ridges. Morulate uroid. Multinucleate with up to 1000 or more nuclei per cell. Nuclei biconvex or ellipsoidal discs, around 27 µm in length. Cytoplasm with crystals often bipyramidal. Inhabits swampy freshwater locales. Type species: C. chaos (Linneaus, 1758). |
