| Description of Adelphamoeba: Monospecific vahlkampfiid genus, with cyst, amoeboid and flagellated stages. Flagellate about 10 - 20 µm long, two anterior flagella insering apically, with circular cytostome adjacent to flagellar insertion, feeds on bacteria. Cysts without pores, and no gelatinous sheath. Found in soil. |
