| Description of Heteramoeba: The flagellated form is large (30 µm), two flagella, an elongate cytostome curving around the anterior of the cell and forming a groove. Nucleus with peripheral chromatin. Probably feeds and divides as a flagellate. One species. This genus is most like Paratetramitus from which it can be distinguished by peripheral location of chromatin material. Cysts without pores, excystment through a weak region of wall. Marine. |
