Gocevia (go-jee-vee-a) a naked amoeba with affinities to the heterolobose forms such as the acrasid slime moulds. Nucleus with large nucleolus, and contractile vacuoles are evident inside. Some of the cell margin is hyaline. Pseudopodia not evident. | Description of Gocevia: Similar in shape to Cochliopodium but without microscales. Most species have a hyaline border with adhering refractile particles such as mineral grains. Hyaline zone often irregular in outline with few subpseudopodia. Cells uninucleate or binucleate. Freshwater habitats. Ref: Pussard (1965). |
