Acanthocorbis unquiculata (Thomsen, 1973) Hara and Takahashi, 1984. Cells are 4.5-7.0 x 5.0-10.5 microns The lorica contains a large number of transverse / oblique costae, with anterior projections, which are more than a single costal strip in length and bear pointed tips. The lorica may be cup-shaped or have a waisted appearance. This is one of about 700 species of heterotrophic flagellates reported from marine environments.
