Pronoctiluca (= Pelagorhynchus marinus Pavillard, 1917). Cells are 35-45 microns, nose flexible but cannot be retracted, that it has a thick flexible theca, inclusions of various sizes, and a large anterior nucleus, encysts but does so without loosing flagella. Sournia argues this is Pronoctiluca, a common dinoflagellate. This is one of about 700 species of heterotrophic flagellates reported from marine environments.
