Small Acanthocystis (a-can-tho-sis-tis) species. A centrohelid heliozoon, distinguished traditionally because it has siliceous plate scales and spine scales. It has subsequently been divided into many genera on the basis of the architecture of the scales. See the Lucid guide to Genera of Heliozoa.
