| Description of Vorticella microstoma: Sessile peritrich ciliate, 35-120 um in length. Urn-shaped, broadest in the middle, narrowing at the ends. Pellicle finely annulated. One contractile vacuole near buccal cavity, macronucleus a band. Stalk very slender, 2 to 6 times the length of the body. Common, in standing water and soil. |
