Description of Salpingoeca megacheila:
Cells are about 6 - 7.5 microns and located in a lorica that has a short or long pedicel. The lorica is about 8 - 9 microns long. The posterior part of the lorica is spherical and the anterior part of the lorica is with a narrow short neck, which flares at the anterior end of the lorica. The pseudopodial collar is about the length of the cell and flares widely. One emergent flagellum is slightly shorter than the cell length.
