Description of Salpingoeca ringens: Loricate choanoflagellate, cell is about 6 microns long in a lorica, which is ovoid with a broad flaring neck and a pointed posterior end. The lorica is with a short stalk attaching to the substrate. The cell has one emergent flagellum, which is about twice as long as the cell and is thin at its tip. The cell fills out the posterior part of the lorica.
