Description of Hydramoeba:
Monopodial amoeba, usually 150 to 250 µm in length, with a thin anterior hyaline zone. Usually has a single nucleus but can have up to 3 nuclei per cell. Nucleus spherical, around 15 µm diameter, with a central nucleolus and coarse nuclear fragments. Cytoplasm full of crystals. Uroid temporary, morulate. No cysts. Habitat: Parasitic, possibly obligate, on freshwater coelenterates. Type species: H. hydroxena (Entz, 1912).
