Microbes of Mono Lake island spring

Paoha island is the largest of several islands in Mono Lake. There is a hotwater spring in the vicity of hot spring cove, and the outflow includes green mats and the water is locally or occasionally a strong red colo - caused by a bacterium believed to be Halobacterium.
