The quarry Duegendorf is located appr. 5 km northwest of Ebermannstadt in the northern part of Franconian Jura (Germany). The ground of the quarry shows a part of Upper Oxfordian with few fossiles. Above this facies the Bankkalk Formation and Mergelkalk Formation of Lower Kimmeridge follow which contain ammonite strata called ´Sutneria platynota´, ´Ataxioceras hypselocyclum´ and ´Crussoliceras divisum´. Ammonite fossiles in Mergelkalk are often depressed or otherwise deformed. Many of them have excavations filled with calcite cristals in the zone of phragmocone. Besides ammonites aptyches, belemnites and bivalves can be found, other fossile elements are rare.
In addition there are some fossiles from Ludwag (Franconia), especially Nautilidae of genus Pseudaganides. Image copyright: Erich W. Albes, image used under license to MBL (micro*scope).
