Large membranelles on left side of the mouth opening; a smaller paroral on the right. Somatic ciliation holotrichous. Caudal cilia in a tuft, 40-50 micrometres long. Contractile vacuole dorsally positioned, connected to the ventral surface by a long tubule. Macronucleus reniform or sausage-shaped, subterminal. Eats diatoms, flagellates, ciliates, green algae.
