Diophrys appendiculata

From the collection Ciliates from Ehrenberg -- 1838

Description of Diophrys appendiculata: Euplotid ciliate, 60-100 micrometres in length. Ovoid body, resembling a bar of soap. Peristome forms a trough extending to the middle of the body, encircled by a well-developed AZM. 5 transverse cirri, 3 caudal cirri, 7-8 frontoventrals, 1-3 marginal cirri. 2 macronuclei. Common, in salt or brackish water.
