| Description of Centropyxis ecornis: Testate amoeba, the shell is brown and usually circular. The aboral region in lateral view is spherical and tapers from mid-body position to the aperture lip. The shell is rough, although the apertural surface usually has a covering of organic cement overlying irregular mineral particles. The aperture is invaginated, oval or circular, sub-terminal with a thick apertural rim. Length of shell 191-262 microns, breadth of shell 185-254 microns, depth of shell 82-116 microns and diameter of aperture 72-98 microns. |
