| Description of Lembadion bullinum: Peniculine ciliates, 120-200 micrometres in length. Plumply ovoid, with a vast buccal cavity, nearly as long as the entire body and about half as wide. Large membranelles on left side of the mouth opening; a smaller paroral on the right. Somatic ciliation holotrichous. Caudal cilia in a tuft, 40-50 micrometres long. Contractile vacuole dorsally positioned, connected to the ventral surface by a long tubule. Macronucleus reniform or sausage-shaped, subterminal. Eats diatoms, flagellates, ciliates, green algae. Marine, and fresh water, in shallow ponds (often in association with sulfur bacteria).
